“Being a pilot is more to me than just a simple passion. It’s my life!” said sincerely Radu Sopa, our pilot for over 10 years. That is how he described his job! These are words of wisdom that should apply to us all. Once you take the first step towards aviation it is impossible not to turn it into a true passion. Many people build up since childhood the desire to work in an enchanting place and many of them actually get to live their dream just like Radu.
Being passionate about aviation doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to work in this particular industry. The famous French writer, Jules Verne, was also a visionary of the Sci-Fi literature due to his attraction towards flying. Even if he lived between 1828 and 1905, a period in which aviation wasn’t properly introduced to the world, Jules Verne had been telling stories even about flying to the moon and back. Many -of his topics would come true eventually, which turned him into a visionary. Thus, can we speak of him as a man passionate about air travel and one of the pioneers of aviation?
However, a true pioneer of aviation was, is and always will be Henri Coandă. Since childhood this future engineer was fascinated with the „miracle of the wind” as he would describe it. And we all know what he means for today’s aviation. He built the Coandă-1910 aircraft, the world’s first plane with jet propulsion. And he was only 24 years old when he achieved this feat. Does it even make sense to wonder if he was passionate about aviation? That’s a rhetorical question.
Today, passion for aviation is manifested intensely and in various forms. We know photographers that can’t wait to take their camera and catch planes while taking off or landing. We know bloggers that do not miss any of our press conferences and document aviation topics with an abundance of details. We also know passengers that just love flying and want to keep a vivid memory of every trip. A passenger once told us about his hobby of collecting every plane ticket in a box and that nothing made him happier than when they constantly pile up. Another passenger even showed us a photograph of his bookshelf showcasing his plane models.
Aviation is born from true passion, whether we’re talking about people directly involved in the industry or the ones who are simply attracted by planes and flying. Aviation is wonderful and it’s a real joy for us to be a part of it.
