You, the one reading this right now, what type of traveller are you? The one that buys their plane tickets at the last minute or the one that prefers to plan their holidays in detail several months ahead? Are you more of a “do-it-yourself” kind of traveller or do you usually go to a travel agency and get professional help? Regardless of the category you’re part of, your dream holiday is a few clicks away! However, there are 3 essential aspects to consider when booking your plane tickets online.
Select the right date
We all know it, planning your vacation days is one of the most exciting tasks you may have at work. You check your calendar twice to choose the right dates for your holiday and then you check it again just to make sure, don’t you? The same thing should happen when booking a plane ticket. Select the correct departure and return dates to avoid situations such as returning to your office daily routine on a Friday morning, without realizing that you didn’t get that day off as well.
Otherwise, if you book a Blue Air ticket and choose the Premium package, you benefit from no fee charged for date or route change. Things are already getting better, aren’t they?
Provide correct and complete contact details
One of the essential steps that all passengers should pay attention to when booking a Blue Air ticket is to fill in the correct contact details. Truth be told, the two types of travel lovers mentioned in the beginning (the ones that are more into do-it-yourself holidays vs. the ones that prefer to go to travel agencies) act differently and each of them has a particular influence when it comes to providing contact details. For instance, most cases of incorrect or incomplete contact details come from bookings made through travel agencies.
Starting June 1st, 2019, according to IATA Resolution 830d, it is mandatory that travel agents request passengers’ contact details and provide them to the airlines. This is extremely helpful for us because it eases our communication with our passengers. Thus, in case of flight changes or cancellation, they will be announced in due time and offered the best option to suit their needs.
“The new strengthened language in IATA Resolution 830d reflects the shared objective of travel agents and airlines to keep passengers informed and give them access to accurate and timely information when things don’t go to plan.” – Henry Coles, Head, Airline Distribution Standards at IATA
Why has this Resolution been introduced?
In 2014, IATA decided to introduce this Resolution trying to find the best solution for a common problem shared by all airlines – being unable to inform passengers about delays, flight changes or cancellations because they did not have access to passengers’ complete and correct contact details.
Choose the best destination airport
Although it may not seem like an issue, selecting the right destination airport is the third aspect on our list you should definitely consider.
Big European cities usually have two airports: one located either closer or in the city and one that is several kilometres away from the city. You may find a better offer for the airport located outside the city, but in this case, you should also take into account transportation to and from your accommodation. Digital maps, such as Google Maps, can prove to be a reliable friend in such situations because you can see exactly how far away from the city the airport is.
Now that you have everything established, all that’s left to do is to pack your luggage and let us carry you to your dream holiday. 🙂
