How many of you dreamt of becoming a pilot when you were only 5 years old? The idea of flying complex aircraft, traveling the world and being paid for doing it is probably on many people’s wish-to-have-jobs list. If you want to have a successful pilot career, there are some aspects you need to consider first, which is why we’ve prepared a short guide for everyone interested.
Before searching for a flight school
Every aspiring pilot needs to meet certain conditions before enrolling in a flight school and some of them are: solid knowledge of English (both writing and speaking), good knowledge of Physics and Math and, most importantly, to obtain a Class 1 Medical certificate.
This test will tell you if you have the necessary physical and mental abilities to become a pilot. You will have your medical history examined, as well as your eyesight, hearing, lung function, heart rhythm and will be subjected to several other medical tests. If everything is ok in the end, you are one step closer to making your dream come true.
How much does it cost?
One of the things that makes people draw back on following the pilot career path is related to the total cost of the professional flight training program, which exceeds €50.000 and it can reach up to €100.000 in some cases, depending on the flight school and the number of modules you choose to enroll to. However, the best way to find out everything about it is to do some research on the Internet, the place where all humanity is looking for the ultimate knowledge.
Your first flying lesson
Becoming a pilot implies a lot of hard work, dedication and responsibility. You need to establish what your flight training options are, enrol in an accredited flight school, and pass all admission tests and interviews. But the greatest challenge comes when you get to control a real plane for the first time. However, this will only happen after many hours spent in the classroom, covering subjects such as aviation law, navigation and flight planning, and in the simulator room, where all students begin their pilot training. In order to get the commercial pilot certificate, you need to have at least 250 hours of flight and to pass both the knowledge test and the practical exam.
Even though you may encounter various challenges on this career path and will have to work hard most of the time, you’ll party even harder in the end. You’ll have the chance to see the world from the best seat in the airplane.
Fly towards your dream!
